9000 Topaz Bariatric Wheelchair (Configurable)

The 9000 Topaz HD wheelchair is built for strength using carbon steel, a reinforced frame, gusseted sides and dual crossbraces to support users up to 700 lbs. The available 1,000 lbs. HD package includes upgraded frame, rear wheels and casters for increased durability and stability.

Width:

While seated, measure the user from the widest point of the hips. Choose a seat about 1–2" wider for comfort.

While seated, measure the user from the back of the buttocks to the inner surface of the back of the knee. Choose a seat depth 1–2" shallower.

The seat-to-floor height is the distance from the top of the wheelchair seat to the floor. Choosing the correct height is important for posture, stability, and comfort. To find the right fit, have the user sit upright with shoes on — their feet should rest flat on the floor with a slight bend at the knees (about 90–100°). Measure from the inside of the knee to the floor.

• Adult - 19.5” (Standard Height): The most common choice and works well for most adult users.
• Hemi - 17.5”: Preferred by users who want easier foot contact with the floor or those planning on using a thicker seat cushion.
• Super Hemi - 15.5”: Lowest seating option, commonly selected by shorter users, those who self-propel with their feet or need a lower center of gravity.

Armrests provide support and stability while seated and when transferring into or out of the wheelchair. The 9000 Topaz offers four armrest options that vary by pad length and height. All armrests are easily removable to simplify lateral transfers, create additional space when arm support is not needed, and aid transport and storage.

Length Options:

• Desk-Length (9") – Ends closer to the back of the seat so the user can pull up more easily to a desk, table, or counter.
• Full-Length (13") – Extends farther forward to provide more forearm support and a larger surface to push from when standing up.

Height Options:

• Fixed Height (10") – A stable, non-adjustable height for consistent support.
• Adjustable Height (10–14") – Allows the armrest height to be tailored to the user’s posture, cushion thickness, and comfort needs.

Casters are the small front wheels of the wheelchair. They affect how easily the chair turns, handles tight spaces, and rolls over small bumps or thresholds. The 9000 Topaz offers several caster sizes and tire types so you can balance maneuverability, durability, and ride comfort.

The 9000 Topaz wheelchair is available with two upholstery materials—nylon or vinyl. Both provide dependable support, but each offers different comfort and maintenance benefits depending on the user’s environment and needs.

Nylon Upholstery:

Lightweight and breathable, nylon helps keep the user cooler and more comfortable during extended use. It dries quickly and is easy to maintain, but because it is porous, it can absorb spills, fluids, or odors and may require more frequent cleaning.

Vinyl Upholstery:

Vinyl is highly durable and moisture-resistant, making it easy to wipe clean and ideal for clinical or high-use settings where sanitation is important. However, the material is less breathable than nylon and can trap heat or moisture during prolonged sitting.

Front riggings support the user’s legs and feet while seated in the wheelchair. They attach and remove easily without tools, and all styles are swing-away, allowing the riggings to pivot outward for easier transfers.

Each style is available with extra-large aluminum footplates that flip upward to provide extra space when pulling up to desks, counters, or when foot support is not needed.

Anti-tippers are safety devices mounted at the rear of the wheelchair to help prevent backward tipping. They are a standard accessory and provided without charge.
