Built with a deeper shell profile, the E2 Deep offers increased lateral support while still preserving functional upper-body movement for daily mobility, transfers, and wheelchair use.

Like the standard contour Matrx E2, the Deep version features advanced Ripple Foam technology, adjustable pin-style mounting hardware, a breathable Meshtex™ cover, and an accessory-ready back shell. Its deeper contour helps provide greater postural control for users who need added trunk stability, improved alignment, and more secure seated positioning in a manual or power wheelchair.

The Matrx E2 Deep Back is designed for users who need additional lateral support to help maintain seated alignment. Its deeper contour helps provide more contact around the trunk, improving stability and helping reduce unwanted side-to-side movement during daily wheelchair use.

This added support can be especially helpful for users who require more postural control, fatigue more easily when sitting upright, or need a backrest that provides a more secure seated feel than a standard 3″ contour back.

Ripple Foam Comfort & Support

The E2 Deep uses Ripple Foam technology to help improve comfort, airflow, and immersion. The rippled top surface allows the foam to better conform to the back contour, while integrated airflow channels assist with temperature and humidity control during extended sitting.

The foam also includes a spinal relief area to provide added immersion and shear reduction along the spine. A supportive high-resilience foam backing helps maintain durability, structure, and long-term protection.

Back Shell & Accessory Compatibility

The E2 Deep back shell is designed to support both positioning and clinical adaptability. Its notched sacral cutout helps improve lower pelvic fit, while the deep contoured shell provides increased lateral trunk support for users who require more stability.

For users who need additional positioning components, backs 14″ and taller include attachment points for headrest and chest harness interfaces. Three additional holes are provided for attaching a PostureFlex abdominal support at the desired position.

Mounting Hardware Options

The Matrx E2 Deep uses pin-style mounting hardware designed for adjustability and wheelchair frame compatibility. The hardware allows height, depth, angle, width, and rotation adjustment, helping clinicians and providers position the backrest more precisely for posture, comfort, and wheelchair fit.

• MiniSet Hardware is included on back heights up to 16″. It fits wheelchairs that are 1″ narrower or 1″ wider than the selected backrest width.
• EasySet hardware is included on 18″ and 20″ back heights. It fits wheelchairs that are 1″ narrower or 2″ wider than the selected backrest width.
  • EasySet may also be ordered on backs 12″ and taller when the backrest needs to interface with a chair that is 2″ wider.

Both hardware styles fit 3/4″, 7/8″, and 1″ diameter back canes and can be positioned to avoid frame obstacles such as arm supports or rigidizer bars. Adjustments may be made with the user seated in the backrest, helping simplify setup and fine-tuning.

Cover Design

The Matrx E2 Deep Back includes a breathable, moisture-resistant Meshtex™ outer cover designed for daily wheelchair use. The foam and cover overlap the shell to help improve comfort around the edges while protecting the backrest during routine use.

A lumbar positioning pad is included to help provide additional lower-back support and allow minor comfort adjustments during setup.
